This one’s going to be short, but sweet.
I see a steady stream of articles, blog posts, and other things offering advice on coaching the current generation of athletes. And a whole bunch of others complaining about the same, as I wrote about here.
Here’s the reality.
You coach the individuals, not the generation. Every player is different. Observe them. Talk to them. Figure out how to coach them individually and collectively as the unique collection they are. If you can do that well, everything will work out. Realize, though, that it’s an ongoing process.
The rest of it is a distraction. And an excuse for poor coaching.
